“I got a comment from a follower on LinkedIn indicating that the info I’m putting out is incredibly helpful. That’s one of the marks I want to hit.”

Expert Gains Followers and Increases Influence through a Targeted Blog Strategy
When I first met James Ochoa LPC, he described himself as “an unknown expert” in his field. James had 29 years of experience working with ADHD. He had developed intervention protocols that work for his clients. He knew his work was having an impact, but wasn’t sure how to express that to the people who needed to hear it.
James knew it was time to put himself out there, in a bigger way.
“If I can influence those who are actually treating people, it exponentially changes the effect I have.”

James knew he needed to be on social media, but wasn’t sure about which information to discuss, or how to leverage his platforms. I helped him position his ideas, and then we began to implement a social media content strategy.
One of James’ concerns was that there was a lot of noise to cut through, and a lot of misinformation. He often sent me long emails explaining what he thought people needed to know. I suggested he begin to publish a blog. He wasn’t that interested. I wrote one for him, anyway.
I organized his ideas from an email he sent me. I positioned them for his intended audience and intended effect. I published this first post on Medium, emailing the link to him with the note, “Let me know if you want me to take it down.”
James didn’t want me to take the blog post down. That’s how my ghost writing relationship with James began.
“The way the blog posts are written in 3-5 minute reads really helps people to understand. It builds influence quickly because people can get the information quickly.”

Since we started publishing a monthly post in January 2018, 543 people have taken an interest in his Medium articles.
Blogging is one part of a three-part content strategy that has increased his follower number an average of 37% across social media platforms in the last year. We’ve also sent 2,072 clicks to his online products during that same year.James is seeing this increased influence as a result of working with Dawn Weathersbee Marketing to define his message, organize his ideas, and distribute his ideas thoughtfully. We’re proud of the work we’ve accomplished together, and are looking forward to continuing to help James grow his influence as his business objectives evolve.
